About the author

I created this blog in 2017, when I was a 24-year-old Ph.D. student living in the London. Originally from Essex, I ventured across the Atlantic, where I am now an Assistant Professor of Pharmacology at Midwestern University in the United States.

I have dealt with mental health difficulties since the age of around 12, being diagnosed, misdiagnosed, and re-diagnosed all over again multiple times. As of October 15th 2025, I have been diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder Type II, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, and a Binge Eating Disorder.

Over the last decade, I began to realize that my mental health struggles are a part of me, and I will never be parted with them. Upon that realization, I thought it crucial to write publicly to detail my experiences to hopefully help cast a light on a topic that should no longer be hidden in the shadows as a controversial one.

I hope that my writing, although not necessarily aimed at a particular group, can help others open up in some capacity. If you do not struggle yourself but know someone who does, I hope these posts can help provide insight into how you can show empathy, solidarity, and support.

“Life is mostly froth and bubble; Two things stand like stone: Kindness in another’s trouble, Courage in our own.” – Adam Lindsay Gordon, Ye Wearie Wayfarer (1867).
